Cant fit second GPU into third PCIE slot

Søren Bjerg
Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

So I can only hook 2 gpus up for SLI if I'm using the first two slots?

Also, is it a good idea to buy a different sli bridge to the stock one that comes with the mobo.

Cheers

yes, and a different SLI bridge would be for purely aesthetic reasons.

As the title says, I'm running 2 Leadtek Hurricane 980s and I want to put one card into PCIE slot 1 (closest to cpu) and the other in PCIE slot 3 (farthest from cpu) for better temps. Unfortunately I can't seem to fit it in I assume due to F_PANEL, USB, HD_AUDIO cables etc.

Any tips or should I just use PCIE slots 1 and 2?

What board do you have? You might not even have the option depending on how the slots are actually wired.

Might just clarify that it is not my cable management that is blocking the card - it's the actual bits of the cords that plug into the board that seem to be blocking the gpu.

I do believe the bottom PCIe slot is wired for 3.0x4, which will NOT work with SLI.

Ok thank you :) I won't need a new one then as I have a fan that blocks part of my window
