5.1 / 7.1 Surround from PC

Okay so i picked out a Sub, a center speaker, 2 front speakers and 2 bookshelf back speakers, now im wondering do i need a receiver to power all of this or will my motherboard be able to?

you'll need a receiver...sadly I'm no expert in speakers and receivers so I can't recommend anything

I've had a Yamaha RX-V567 for the past 5 years or so, been working great so far.  This is the only receiver I've ever had so can't really compare it to anything.

I'm guessing the Sub doesn't need an amp since it has a power button, but the other speakers do. Could get by with a stereo amp and a 2.1 amp, but that's mostly DIY. Easier to get an AVR.

I think it can all be powered by the amp in that sub. Try it first and see if it works before you go out and buy something.

Yes you will need a receiver.

Go with the Logitech if you need Audio only.
