Sorry for multiple posts today... but I found this on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROG-Xonar-Phoebus-gaming-Sound-Card-/361129405538?pt=US_Sound_Cards_Internal_&hash=item5414fd6c62

A couple questions

1) Never used Ebay, so is this listing sketchy or trustworthy?

2) Would it be good with the Beyerdynamic MMX 300

3)Is this card good?

1. Listing looks fine, highly reputable seller

2. The MMX300 have very low impedance (32ohm) so it would make no difference realistically

3. For the right situation it is decent, this how ever is not the right situation

Do you actually own the MMX300 already? If not I highly advise against it

I don't  own them already but every single user review I have seen says that a good soundcard is very important. Additionally my motherboard the MSI Z77 G43 http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-G43.html#hero-overview was super cheap, and I'm not sure how good the onboard audio is...

Spending 400$ on those is a very bad idea. You would be much much better off with something like a PAir of HD650s from Sennheiser. All that headset is is a pair of 200$ DT770s with a cheap mic on it. The motherboard has ALC898 which would do fine for the headset but like I said, please dont buy that headset

I bought them they just haven't arrived. I will explain myself

1) I have used Sennheiser before at a friends house. Within a couple hours my head got sore due to the relatively small earcups and my monkey ears. So I didn't want those, as for other headphones I wanted closed, most others were open

2) I am in canada and I was not comfortable buying used headphones despite logic, and the cheapest way to get new DT 770 was to get them shipped from Amazon.com, pay import charges and the cost for the DT 770 would be $350

3) I use my mic a LOT for LoL, so I wanted a good one. So the mic would be around $50 (Modmic probably, maybe snowflake) which makes it around $400

4) NCIX was having a sale, so they were $280, shipping and taxes included it was $325

5) Have you heard the MMX 300 mic? It's really high quality in comparison to other clip on/attachable mics. Sounds significantly better than the Modmic 4.0 IMO

I did my research, I know that 95% of the time you should just get a pair of headphones + a cheap mic, that setup is just less cost efficient for me.

edit: Maybe I'm missing some key detail and I made the worst purchase decision of my life. I was kind of in a rush as my current garbage Turtle Beaches I had left over from when I played on Xbox 360 died... so I have literally no sound.

You won't need a separate sound card with those headphones, onboard audio is fine nowadays. I have that same motherboard and I can't tell a difference between it and my dedicated soundcard

The earcups on the DT/mmx300 are smaller than the Sennheiser hd650....

Those cost 400 not including mic in Canada.... I was talking 558/598

Someone else recommended you the HD650, and you responded by saying you tried Sennheisers and they were uncomfortable despite it being a completely different headphone that you tried.

Have you considered buying used? For headphones with removable pads+cables, it's a WAY better deal.  You save tons of money, and if the fact that they've been on someone elses head bugs you, you can wash them or change the pads.

You can easily get a pair of HD650 for $300 from the US and have them shipped in without paying import tax if you tell the seller what to put on the customs form.

Or even Dt770 for $150

I have considered buying used, I even did buy used once from a place like Craigslist. I bought some Trittons, they were DOA and the seller refused to give me a refund. So yeah, no.  Like I said I don't want to buy used, and last time I checked I can't tell a place like Amazon what to put on the customs form xD. As for the recommendation of 650 before I was just thinking about the 500 series, I hadn't researched the 600 series that much after seeing the price.

A gaming headset compared to a high end headphone is two completely different things...

People actually take care of "audiophile-grade" headphones, and most of them are designed to last years.

No it wasn't. I already said for me to get DT 770 and a decent mic (Modmic or snowball) it would be around $375. This cost me $325.

Youre still much better off going to a place like Headfi and buying a pair of HD650s for 300$. Like Lays said, these area quality product meant to last a long time and people that buy stuff like HD650s take care of their shit

It's just not something I am interested in. Like I said, I realize it makes sense to buy used. I'm just am spooked by it. I feel more comfortable knowing how the equipment was treated and that if it breaks I have the full warranty. It's just a personal thing.

Sennheiser will accept an RMA if something goes wrong even if you buy used

If you kept looking, could probably find a pair in Canada for like $150.

%100 positive feedback, even says they're new.

There's literally tons online, even new ones for only $200 in Canada.

I am 15, I have no expenses. The question isn't about how shitty my purchase decision was. It's do I need a soundcard for the product I purchased, is the Ebay listing trustworthy, and is the Asus Xonar Phoebus good.
