New hobby?

Hey all,
So recently, in between my exams and studying for countless hours I find myself bored. For example, this Tuesday I finished 2 exams and now I have a week off and since I'm in a different city (not at home), I can't find work or anything interesting to do. So I've been looking to pickup something. As a tech guy, like most of here are, I'm really into tech and anything tech related. I've recently bumped into one of those Wacom drawing boards and educated myself on how they work and how good they are. All in all, I'm impressed. And as someone that is a tech person I have horrible handwriting and very poor drawing skills (outside of CAD, schematics and projects) so I thought about learning something new, how to draw on paper and maybe later buy one of these tablets! It's something I've always wanted to learn but never bothered because it was time consuming and hard to learn (for me), but right now I'm looking for a challenge! I also thought I'd never learn to play an instrument, but I did...

 

So I'm asking you, is this a good idea?

Should I spend my time like this or look for another hobby?

Where do I start?

How do I start?

Are there video tutorials? I find learning thru video tutorials much more effective.
Any suggestions from any artist?
