Connect to the back of the mobo. Monitor outputs usually have done kind of interference in them.

Monitor output usually has inteferance in them. Plugging it directly to your motherboard will eliminate the potential interference from the monitor. So plug it into your mobo for that less than noticeble improvement in sound quality.

Interference means you're likely to hear pops, crackles, static, etc.
