Honestly, a GPU upgrade will not make a big difference with only a g870 in there. a 7770 isn't a bad card by any stretch. Considering you probably use your computer for more things than just playing games, an all around speedy system should probably be considered before a GPU upgrade. Honestly, with 470 bucks to spend, I would try and get a 4670+ a decent mobo and hopefully be able to throw a 128 gig SSD in there. You will LOVE the computer experience such a upgrade would bring.

Quick list on newegg, a 4670, plus a Asus Z-87-k will run you about 360 bucks, add a 100-140 dollar SSD such as a Vertex 4 for 120 or Samsung 840 for 135, you really can't go wrong!

And really, your PSU doesn't support haswell? Thats too bad. Then I would suggest a 3570 plus a Z77 board, performance would be about the same. And for the 5 dollars extra, get a 3570k for sure.

but if i bought a 4670 i would need a new psu aswell to support haswells c6/c7 states

This is true, however you can disable Haswells c6/c7 states under your BIOS, and then your power supply will support it. This simply reduces efficiency.
