Hey lads,

I have $3000 (including a $50 shipping fee) to put together a X99 system. I plan to use this machine for intensive use on Unity, Photoshop, Blendr and some gaming here and there. My current monitor is the Asus MX299 which I will be keeping for this system. I have parts already selected via an Australian vendor (I live in Australia, Queensland).

Any kind of changes and recomendations are welcomed as i'd love to know were I can improve the system. I am ordering it in exactly 48 hours.

Cheers, Suffokation.

The parts have been ordered! Cheers lads.

Better power supply

The GTX 970 is the way to go imo. They are way better value when you look at the performance difference between the two. You get maybe 15% more performance with a 980, but you are paying about 50% or so more.

You could drop the WD Black for a Seagate, although the Black is pretty good in a workstation type build.

Thanks! That power supply is great! I might keep the 980 to be honest, I don't mind capping the budget. Unless there is something else in the build I can put more money into.

Yeah the EVGA is one of the best psu's on the market for the price/performance.

Here is an alternative case that will give you better airflow. The H440 is a nice case but it is a bit restrictive due to the front panel design.

There is also a Black version as the White one is showing as 19/12/2014.

I know that cases are a personal thing, so if you like the H440 then it will still work fine.

It's a good build but those are really expensive prices. They don't have deals in Australia? I built my x99 rig with monitor and m & kb for 2/3rds your cost.

Only change I would make is get a better brand SSD and a non SC 980 because you can save a few bucks and either way you will end up manually overclocking it.

PSU is fine but those prices...omg. I got an EVGA G2 750W Gold for 90 dollars after rebate.
