Hi, this will be my first build in such a small case. I'm really stumped on a powersupply and graphics card. I'm trying to keep the driverbay in and have a cd drive installed. This is the build at the current moment:

I'm really looking for a graphics card now. Somewhere around $250-$300 that can run most all games maxed and will fit in the build (somewhere around 250-270mm in length)

cut back on the psu to a 500W and get a 970 for $350. I built in that case just for fun and I will tell you it wasn't. Even with the water cooler in there you're going to want a blower style gpu in there because air flow is a wreck and if you can, don't think about optical drives. Like I said it was not fun building in that case. Challenging but not fun. Also be warned that I had ended up swapping panels with each side because by default you have to be care and go through hell to take it off because of the front panel cables. -_-

well on pc part picker its saying that the system will be pulling 480+ already. A 500w seems really risky....

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/swiftfishy/saved/8fjRsY I updated it with the pny graphics card because it was blower... though I'm not a fan of the blower type because it seems that they get really hot. (though I'm an amd fan and even I know their blower design is extremely hot)

its more than enough. I realized the power draw calculations are off a lot of the times. With 970 you're looking at 400-450. I have a 500 what psu and was previously running sli 670's no prob. I havea  single 980 now and multiple drives and overclocked cpu with an h60 wc. Just saying :D

so overall, would u say the build is pretty solid for extreme gaming at 1080 and fairly good at rendering?

I would say you will be able to game no problem and rendering will decent. An SSD would be a very nice addition. Rendering can be done on any machine to be honest but it all comes down to how serious you are with it. Your processor is fine, but I always preferred intel i7's for hardcore rendering(benchmarks and fanboyism). Also comes down to what you're rendering too. But its solid overall! :]
