ASUS Auto Tune Reliability?

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Thanks for the info.  So to really over clock an 8350 you just need to bump up the multiplier and only change the voltage when it is needed correct?  Also what power savers would need to be disabled on a Asus M5A99X Evo if i where to attempt an OC myself?

If you want the OC to stay where it's at 24/7(which can improve stability), any C states that you see. Also, AMD's APM too. But yeah. That's pretty much involved. Bump up the multiplier, stress test it. If it becomes unstable, up the voltage and try again. I'd stress test 5-10 minutes at a time. And then do a final stress test for about a half an hour. Though some people go for an entire 24 hours.

Hello all i have an FX 8350 running with a Corsair A70 Air cooler and want to do a slight overclock but have never done so before.  How reliable is Auto Tune i know if will keep going until it fails but auto tune on its first attempt goes to 4.4 right away for me which seems to me will be as far as i will get on air cooling.  If anyone has asked this question before or there is an Auto Tune bashing thread then just link me there and i'll take the hint lol :P  Thanks

I use the Asus's auto tuning as a good base overclock and from there i fine tune it myself. I have not had and problems as a result of it and i am quite happy with the ease of use and base results. You do get different end results according to your setup. Determining factors are Ambient temperature, PSU, RAM compatibility, Cooling Solution( air/water) and CPU quality.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.
