gaming

X99 is excessive just for gaming.

Try this, very similar performance, less cost. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/mourningsouls/saved/39KNnQ

Could swap 970 for 980 and 4690 for 4790 and still save.

-snip-

Are you sure you want an x99 build?

If it's strictly for gaming, we can build you something better for the price.

What's your location and budget?

And welcome to the forums!

thank you.

Also, I just took a closer look at that monitor, 4k on a single 970 or even a single 980 won't be amazing. Would recommend 1080p or 1440p. Don't know screens very well though, so I can't recommend you any good ones.

If you're looking for 4K gaming, x99 is useless.

An i7-4790K would perform just the same as a x99 build. Linus did a video about this.

x99 builds are only for true diehard enthusiasts or content creators who can benefit from the extra processing power for Premiere and such.

I'll make a build for you really quick but I need the following information

  • Do you need the OS?
  • Is the budget tower only, or do you need the peripherals also?
  • Do you want a color scheme?
  • Any other specific requirements?

I was thinking going with 2 970 if was going stay with 4k monitor. if I just running one I would run a 1440p monitor

If you're planning on 2 GPU's, then I'd recommend an EVGA 750W or 850W G2.

I can cut corners if you want it cheaper.
I didn't include the OS, peripherals, or the monitor.

Features/Tips/Configuration:
  • Raid 0 2TB drives
  • Asus 980 Strix in 2 way SLI
  • Corsair H100i for easy water cooling (can be replaced with a NZXT kraken x61)
  • Technically, we can go with a R9 295 X2, but you should ask the forum members if you want that configuration.
