PC build need some help.

I am a moderate pc builder. I know what things do and have built at least a dozen PC's for or with friends. Another one of my friends wants to build a pc, so the first thing I asked him was, "What do you want to do with it?"

He wants to play Arma 3 at 1080p and battlefield, but mainly Arma 3. He also is getting into the world of youtube and will end up editing videos. I have no clue if AMD or intel cpu's play arma better and the same between nvidia and AMD.

He cant spend more than $900, but is looking more about $800.

I was thinking AMD 8350 and overclock it with the proper cooling of course.

A R9 280,(he will always add a monitor when he can but for now he only has one)

8 gb of RAM (Later he will upgrade to 16 when he saves the money but for now it will be fine)

And any help would be nice. Like what case has nice cooling. He wants a big case so it will have great airflow and it doesnt really matter what color)

Arma 3 is really poorly optimized, but will run better with Intel's fast cores.  I'd set him up with at least a 4690k if he plans on doing YouTube.

You say fast cores. So would overclocking be usless. Because I don't think he could fit the i5 into the budget.

An i5 would be better.  Look at the build @mosin40 set up.

His dad  will pay for a copy of windows. And he has keyboard and a mouse so he's good on that. And is there another i5 around that price because you can't overclock that one I don't think.
