PC upgrades

my current pc is a quite a few years old now and starting to think about starting to upgrade it, i haven't really got a budget yet but want to keep it to the same sort of level as my current hardware was when i first brought it, i think i will be rekitting out the whole cooling system and replacing all the fans to to make it ultra quiet, considering water cooling with a 120mm rad to. my main uses for my computer is university work, casual gaming but when i want to have it totally 1080p maxed out and have totally brought into star citizen so really wanna run that at max settings at 50-60 FPS standard

 

currently have:

AMD 6100

sapphire HD 6950 2GB

8GB ram at 1333MHZ

 thermaltake frio cpu cooler with corsair SP120 fans

coolermaster scout 2 case (def keeping this case)

 

thinking about getting

intel i5, but i don't know which one

bang for buck motherboard

nvidia 970 

 

anyone have any better suggestions, i think i want a change in cooler scheme to, any ideas, want it to be unique but suttle

If you're going i5 you're probably looking towards H87/Z97, of which everything is Black and red. no unique colour themes here.

can play game's maxed out more than 50 fps for about £635 but since you can reuse the case, ram, hard drive, and psu the upgrade should "only" be £415
