I am gonna build a gaming rig with 970 get from Zoran and where wondering if someone knows about a fairly priced motherboard who suits black and green

What CPU socket and budget are you looking at?

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Is the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK, Socket-1150 good?

That motherboard is yellow and black, not green and black.

How about this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-g1sniperz87

It's a Z87 so you'll need a BIOS update (meaning you might have to borrow an older Haswell ((non-refresh)) CPU to update it, unless Gigabyte has figured out how to do the thing that ASUS does which is a really great "get a thumb drive and you're good" system that really works.)

After some quick research, it looks like yes, you will need to borrow a Haswell CPU to update the BIOS (not to mention having Windows installed on there).... I hate things. Unless you have access to a Celeron, Core i5 etc from the Haswell lineup, you won't be able to use that motherboard.
