So I finally got some money to do my external GPU project. So I narrowed down the games I play the most, and figured out of all of them modded skyrim was the most common. The most demanding game I own is BF4, and forced to play it on low on Intel HD 4000.

So anyways, I was wondering what the best bang for the buck GPU would be for me? I live in the USA.

Thanks guys

EDIT: Forgot to mention it has to be an Nvidia card. AMD cards might work but people have reported issues. Do recommend both brands though. Sorry.

 eGPU Setup: Macbook Pro 13" 16GB DDR3 RAM, 512GB SSD, i5 3210M, GTX 980 eGPU

New PC: i7-4790k, Corsair H100iGTX, ASrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer, 24GB Ram, 850 EVO 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080 Fractal Design R4, EVGA Supernova G2 650W

What hardware restrictions? If it has to be nvidia GTX970 or the upcoming GTX960 if you're willing to wait.

Power consumption. The external card holder can only deliver so much power, and since most Nvidia cards have lower power consumption less people run into problems. But I am contacting their support to see if I can still use some AMD cards with the adapter

Make sure to upgrade your system ram as well for when you mod the shit out of it.

Oh right didn't realize that. In that case GTX970.
