GPU for video editing?

I'm building a PC for my friend. He wants something where he can edit video, use photoshop, do effects, etc. at a high level. Should I recommend a GPU to him? I'm putting a 4770k in the build, and I want to keep prices around $1000. Any suggestions?

If he is editing video at high level, then you might wanna consider something higher end than a 4770k.

He can just use a gtx or r9 card to edit, a quadro or firepro isnt essential

 

Edit: Thats if its a gaming rig aswell

If he doesn't plan on gaming maybe allocate that budget towards things like RAM, more hard drive space, a nicer CPU.
