An old upgrade.

Go to solution Solved by Speedbird,

Go for AM2 and AM3....

So I was at my friend's house, getting some of their old PC junk, when I found an Athlon 67 x2 (AM2). That old CPU beats  my current setup which is basicly a Pentium D 820(2.8GHz) with hyper-threading. I also plan to overclock it and  would like to have upgrade-ability.

What I need your help with is choosing a motherboard. I have 2 options.

1. A Board that can support AM2 and AM3 CPUs (put an Penom II /Athlon II on it) ~£40

2. A board that only supports AM2 and buy another board later. ~£30

I do mostly school work, browsing and watching youtube, with some gaming now and then. (I have a HD 5770, which isn't maxed out by the Dual P4 based Xeons

Input is appreciated.
