T Mobile prism screen not responding

My friend's T Mobile Prism's screen isn't responding to any touch input, but the display works and the hard buttons too. He said he didn't drop it or anything, it just wouldn't work one day. He wants me to fix it for him, but I don't know exactly what the problem is. Do I need to replace the screen? Or is it something else?
