Hi guys, i know this isn't a specifically agreeable topic but its tech related non the less.

my girlfriend asked me if it possible to add a extra 16gb of ram into her iMac. it has 2 free slots and i was wondering what type of dimm slots the mac has, even possibly a link to a site with compatible memory.

also does imac ram and macbook pro ram compatible with each other

thanks

The kind of info you need should be printed on the memory itself.

IDK anything about macs except that they charge extortionate amounts of money and do NOT want you putting your own ram in (an consequently seeing you can get better quality ram for a quarter of their ridiculous prices)

I would go to www.crucial.com . From there you can use their "Memory Advisor Tool". It'll ask you for manufacturer (Apple) then type, year, etc. It will then give you what frequencies are available and exactly how many gigs of RAM it can support. It'll even give their own kits (if you wish to purchase). I use this for my customers when I sell RAM upgrades and it hasn't missed the mark yet.
