Samsung Galaxy Tab Issues

Hello, i'm looking for some help with my Samsung galaxy tablet 10.1 inch. when i press the power button, it flashes black, then shuts off. when i plug the charger, the backlight is on but i do not see the charging icon. help!

Did you drop it or spill anything on it prior to this? And are you running the stock rom?

Did not drop it, and yes i am running the stock rom.

 

EDIT: After opening up the back with a credit card, and unplug and re-plugging the battery, it decided to turn on. but over the battery where the lightning bolt is, there is a red x, what is this?

Probably means that it's unable to charge or that the battery is bad.
