How does one power supply?

MattLantis
Go to solution Solved by Bogica,

Get a 600W PSU, just to be on the safe side and leave room for upgrading. :)

So I'm building my first custom computer and such, and I used a bunch of those online psu calculators, and they all gave different amounts, ranging from 383 watts to 585 watts. I need help!!! The specs will be:

Intel i5 4670K

ASRock Fatal1ty Killer LGA 1150 Motherboard

In Win GT1 Black SECC case

8 gigs of Corsair Vengeance 1600 RAM

1 TB Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 HDD

128 gig Samsung 840 Pro SSD

2 Corsair AF Series quiet LED red 120mm fans

Gigabyte Windforce 4 gig GTX 970 graphics card

(I'm planning on OCing)

Edit - on Nvidia's website, it says the GTX 970 needs at least a 500 watt psu

Id say that system draws less than 400W. But since theres small price differences between 400 and 600W psus id suggest getting a decent 600W one.

Personally, just go with an 850 watt. They are not that expensive (about 100$ on Newegg and Amazon) and it leaves you pleanty of room for upgrading. you will also never need to worry about running out of power, so if you ever want to throw another GPU in a some point, then you are good to go!

Just grab a 600w EVGA G2 Powersupply, leaves you room for upgrades.

You won't really use more than 400w, I'd go with something around 600w.

That psu doesn't exist. The G2 models start from 750W.

Might've been thinking of a different EVGA PSU, I stand by my point of getting a good 600w PSU though.
