ok so, ive only recently been looking in to this and it seems that there are limited choices out there for what im looking for in the projector market.

what i need in a projector is at the least:

-1080p

-2000 lumens bightness

-10000:1 contrast

-DLP

-nvidia 3d tv play ready

-2d -> 3d conversion

-good reliability

-all round good quality picture

-under $1500 (preferably towards the $1000 dollar mark)

ive been looking at a few projectors such as the acer h651bd, but despite the specs was told to have not great picture quality. also the benQ w1070 and that seems almost perfect but i reallllllllly want 2d to 3d conversion. if there is a hdmi input device that could give the benQ 2d -> 3d that would be exactly what im looking for, is that such a thing??

anyways looking forward to hearing any comments regarding what projector i should buy.....i am happy to listen to suggestions that do not fit my criteria also, but i would appreciate an explanation of why.......

Sorry to say it but you won't find a good 2D/3D projector for under $2500 usd. I would highly recommend the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5020UBe 3D LCD: $3,000, BenQ W7000 3D DLP or the JVC DLA-X30 3D LCOS: $3,500. I realize it`s not in your budget, but those are the best low-midrange 3D projectors on  the market that are worth looking at. If you can live without 3D, i would look at the Epson 8350($1299).

If you want a DLP under $1000 I can think of 2 off the top of my head. You should probably look into the BenQ W1070, which has the 3D like you want. If you can live without the 3D look towards the Optoma HD23. You probably won't get 2D to 3D conversion in this price range. You also want to think about the pros and cons of DLP vs 3LCD. If you're in an apartment and you can't do things like ceiling mounts, it might be easier for you to go with something like an Epson 8350 since the advantage of 3LCD being able to use lens shift would let you place the projector way off center and still be able to shift the image without losing quality. Another good option when buying, if you want to keep the cost down, is look into manufacturer refurbished projectors (many of which come with full warranties).
