USB to PS/2 adapter

Go to solution Solved by Mo5,

Update: I have tried to use my keyboard with the USB to PS/2 adaper and it didn't work

I have a quick question. Can you use a USB to PS/2 adapter for my (any) keyboard? I have a bunch of them, but they're green (meant for mice), but I'm guessing they're the same as those which are meant for keyboards just different color.

The keyboard I'm using is the Cherry MX-Board 3.0. (The official specs only mentions USB interface)

as far as I know yes (as long as the keyboard does not require extra power for backlights and such it will need usb)

my question is.. why not just use USB

N key rollover, turn your system on with your keyboard, not worrying about USB slowing it down if you have lots of USB devices, save a USB port...

Can't get into BIOS and those similar things (on USB)

as far as I'm aware the keyboard needs to be designed for it since ps2 and usb don't work the same way so at the vary least it would need drivers for ps2

most mainstream keyboards are... sadly mine isn't - as I've said: "The official specs only mentions USB interface"

Couple that with a mobo that doesn't detect USB keyboards in boot and the result is no BIOS :(

I think since motherboard manufactures are starting to move away from ps/2 i think it is far more likely that keyboard will not be made that way for much longer since it is now a dying interface
