How can I improve my setup? Also mic recomendations

MalcolmSex

I have a bit of an unusual setup, and I am looking for ways I could improve it. In specific I need a new mic (either a new headset or external), and am curious about getting a new DAC.

My current setup is:
Audio: Realtek® ALC892 --> Opitcal out --> Astro Mixamp Pro ---> single  3 pole 3.5mm jack (for mic and audio) --> ATH-M50s or dying Astros

MIC: Realtek® ALC892 --> USB (@much lower quality) --> Astro Micamp Pro --> single  3 pole 3.5mm jack (for mic and audio)

I use the Mixamp to mix the chat and game volumes on the fly; it's a feature I quite like, although imagine is replaceable. Also after another couple paychecks, I've been tossing up the idea of getting a console again, and the Mixamp is perfect for that kind of peasantry. I can even use the MIxamp to mix PC and peasant volumes though the same headset if I so desire.

1. What should I get as a new microphone or headset? Should I get something like the SteelSeries 9H, Bluetooth/USB headset, a desk mic, or a mod mic for my M50s?

2. Should I ditch the Mixamp on PC in favor of a more proper DAC (under $130)?

3. If I do get a DAC, should I worry about getting one that supports mic input, or should I just run a 3.5mm extension to the DAC (which seems less convenient)?

If you want to remain using analog audio, then the modmic is a very good headset mic (if positioned properly) (this represents the most convenient way of getting good audio quality)

If you want to go for a USB mid, then it depends on how much you are willing to spend, desktop USB's will be the best for a PC.

For vocals only, the Audio-Technica AT2020 and the rode NT-USB, both are able to get some decent radio talk show style vocals. (the NT-USB being the best of the bunch, though it is expensive)
