Hey guys,

I could use some advice on overclocking my GTX 980 with emphasis on Core Voltage and Power Limit. I am using MSI Afterburner to overclock.

According to GPU-Z;

Before overclocking

Default Clock: 1127    Memory:1753     Boost:1216

After Overclocking:

GPU Clock: 1347     Memory:1888     Boost: 1436

So in overall my GPU is overclocked by 20% and my memory by 8%

Questions;

Is my overclock too high? (I do pass the benchmarking)

Do I need to change Power Limit and/or Core Voltage?

Your help is greatly appreciated!  :rolleyes:

There isn't too high of a overclock as long as your temps are staying at a safe level and its stable.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Power level is safe to move all the way to the max. Voltage just leave at its default. And that overlcock is not all that high, as it seems almost all do 1500+. But if that works for you, go with it. I actually had to lower mine some with a new 4k monitor, it was perfectly fine at 1440P but now running at 2160P i was having some lock ups.

i heard there are so many people who can overclock it up to 1500 base clock on the reference card. is that true? i plan to upgrade my 780 to this 980 but i also heard that nvidia will launch the new 8GB 980 on early 2015. is that also true??
