help with choosing pgu

ok so im confused slightly about the specs of some cards.

do i go for bus bandwidth or memory speed or gpu clocks?

ive seen a card with 4gb ram @ 7000mhz with a 256 bus and another with 4gb but its @ 5000mhz BUT bus is 512 on it. is this the better coice even though it has lower memory clock?

my r9 270x has 5600mhz and 256 bus i think. gpu clocks dont differ much on the cards ive been looking at so i dont think its a main factor?

What GPU's are you comparing here?

well a gigabyte r9 290x 4gb (which where im looking) has 512 bus but 5000mhz memory clock. And a 4gb gigabyte gtx 980 g1 gaming which says 256 bus but 7010mhz memory clock!

the 980 will perform better. Dont look at the stats when comparing two different makes of GPUs look at the benchmarks

so does the memory clock not matter too much? i know the 980 is the better from what ive heard. also i though the higher the bus the better.
