My pc is of late giving me a lot of problems. It often restarts (during games) before which a blue screen appears saying that windows is shutting down to prevent damage. Other times, the pc just doesnt boot up. The motherboard's name asus is displayed and then the system halts . It boots up when i remove the power and then boot up. I run my OS from an ssd(samsung 850 pro).

 What could the problem be?

If it reboot with the message "Prevent damage" might be a problem with the heat. Have you cleaned the dust, replaced thermal compound on CPU? Monitor temps and run some software (I use OCCT for work)

CPU: i5 4460 3.20Ghz GPU: MSI GTX750 1GB OC MB: Asus B85M-E RAM: Kingston HiperX 4GB 1600Mhz (2x) PSU: Cooler Master 500W B-series HDD: WD Blue 500GB + 250 WD Case: Raidmax Super Viper

Yes, the cpu and gpu temperatures are well within 60 C.

Hey there abhishek1998,

As @Bigcbark mentioned, when a Blue Screen appears (BSOD - Blue Screen Of Death), it is very useful to take a picture of it or remember the error code. This way we can easily indicate what the problem is. Next time it happens, make sure to write it down or take a picture of it and post it here.

Usually windows shuts down with that message when there's either overheating or some of the hardware malfunctions. Since you said your temps are good (I would double check that just to make sure), I would suggest you check if everything in the case works and spins properly. You could do a run-in test from the BIOS to check your CPU, memory and HDD.

Also, do you have all your latest OS updates, drivers and hardware firmware?

It would be also useful if you post all your specs so we can identify any potential compatibility issue.

Keep us posted :)

I am sure that there are no compatibility or driver issues as I have been using this pc for rather a long time.

Just because it has been working fine for a long time doesn't always mean it will stay like that, an update could of caused a problem. From previous experience at my workplace, computers do just sometimes go wrong and most of the time re-installs fix the errors,

but also hard drives, overheating or software issues are what is mostly whats wrong. try getting some diagnostics software and make sure everything is OK maybe?

As @HaGzT17 pointed out, a working computer does not always mean that it is a balanced and with compatible parts.
You could try a system restore to a point where there were no errors to see if that helps.
Also, the thread that @Bigcbark posted solves the 3b problem. It does indicate driver issues or memory problem.
