DAC USB cables

You probably need one with a ferrite bead on it.

Something like what we use -

I've recently purchased an AudioEngine D1 Dac which comes default with a nice USB B to A cable that's gold plated and all that shizzle. So for the last 24 hours I've had it  running in a temporary setup with no issues.

I set it up permanently today, and the default cable is far too short (about a quarter the length I need) and used a different cable - a standard USB B to A cable and the DAC sounded AWFUL. Imagine kittens in a blender.

So I played around for a bit using all different USB ports before I realized it was the cable! It all works fine with the included cable, does not with the longer, useful cable.

So I swapped the long cable out for the short cable + USB Type A extension cable. And same issue. Just screeching noise.

So what sort of cable am I meant to buy for this thing?!
