The 290X will absolutely destroy the 770.

Same price. My friend has been brainwashed into thinking Team green > Team red. Should he add £2 to his PC to get a 290X?

No competition, 290x beats 770 any day... Hell, it even gives 780Ti a run for it's money... And it's still a king at higher resolutions :D

100% hands down no if and's or buts about it go with a 290x if its only £2 more

The 290X in many cases is faster than a Titan. Hence why it was nicknamed the Titan killer. Aftermarket 290X cards have proven to be consistently faster than the Titan. The owner of HardOCP went as far as to replace both of his Titans in SLI with two 290Xs in CrossfireX.
