I was modding a game and went to open a "readme" with notepad and I think i opened the wrong file because it was a bunch of random symbols. now 2 programs on my desktop have switched to the notepad icon (evernote and macrium reflect). I thought this was very odd and its not a big deal but i was wondering if anyone has done this before or knows how to fix it.

You opened it with notepad just change the file to be opened to the correct program by right clicking on it and selecting the correct one.

Right click on the File you want to open and select "Open With"

I know how to open files with specific programs but i think i mis-clicked and opened the wrong one, now two completely unrelated programs are using the wrong icon.

Can you change them back?

If it's really that important to you, you can change them back by right clicking on the desktop icon, going to properties selecting "change icon" and navigating to the .exe file for the program. It will then give you the choice of using the icon it originally had.

Change icon is greyed out.

Can you change them back?

I have no idea.
