If the goal is gaming only, X99 is not the way to go. You want Z97. Trust me. You save almost $300 right there between costlier chip, mobo and RAM.

Look at a 4790K with a good aio closed loop cooler, a pair of GTX 970s, and a motherboard that suits your needs. Spend at least $140 on the motherboard. Buy for feature set. Most of the Z97 stuff ( don't like MSi) is pretty good.

I'd go with a pair of 970s instead and go with a Supernova Gold rather than a Bronze. Good PSUs.

I'd also go to the Corsair Air540 or 760T cases.

I whole heartedly endorse this build. :)

BTW, OP, 2560x1080 , gsync? No. You won't find G-Sync in that resolution. It's all 16:9.

x99 is a waste of money for gaming and a 4790k will perform better than any x99 cpu out there because games would rather have a smaller number of fast cores rather than more slower ones.  Get this and this is even way overkill for 1440p

I automatically ignore people who un-necessarily recommend highly expensive motherboards. What is the OP going to get out of a $230 motherboard? Nothing. He's not using liquid nitrogen for crying out loud. He's using 240-280mm AIO. That's $130-$160 motherboard territory right there. If he goes Z97, which I think is best for him, an ASUS Z97-A ($150 CDN) would be my suggestion.

RoG Swift. A very cost effective build. PSU is good enough and will support SLI when you want to get another 970. Everything aside from the monitor and GPU is based on price for performance. The fans made me laugh, $0.01 each after MIR. Had to add them.

really awesome builds you guys. I forgot to mention this but, if multiple game windows what would be changed? Meaning running 3-4 different games in windowed mode without having any issues. Thanks

It probably wouldn't run well. But then, why would you do this? What would be the purpose? Why the propensity for tomfoolery?!

because he plays one game and leaves the other ones on running 'bots'

Bots? Oh dear. Does this mean he 'plays' multiple MMOs and uses these bots to progress at an unnatural speed, presumably so he can acquire more things so he can do more things? And let the cycle progress and repeat?

Call me an old fashioned fart, but that seems to defeat the point of playing an MMO, doesn't it? You're supposed to grind for gear in order to appreciate the game in it's entirety? That's rather why I stopped playing MMO's as a kid, they suck up your time. But I'm not sure circumventing this grinding is the route to fun. Perhaps you can persuade him to actually commit to a game that is genuinely fun?

technically he isnt 'botting' to progression further in game he got these 'stallers' basically alt accounts selling items so yea as far as i know they take up ram and cpu usage. Any help would be appreciated.

You could upgrade my spec to a 4790k and 16gb of RAM for the purposes of keeping it mostly unlaboured.
