thinking of "downgrading"

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

so what do you guys think? i really like the black and white and i love msi as a brand because i like their costumer support.

Motherboards don't affect performance. So, as long as it has all the connectors you need, then it's not a downgrade.

I do like it, although I don't like how they changed the USB 3.0 from a right angled connector like it is on my Z97s SLI Plus (the Kraits blue brother). But relocating the Sata express connector is a nice touch...it just looks stupid where it is on the z97s sli plus.

so today i saw the new msi krait z97 board and i really want it for an upcoming build.

right now i have an asus z87-a

will it be that much of a downgrade if any at all.

im running an i5-4670k and i may overclock in the future but probably not.

it will have no difference from your current motherboard for performance, so if you are willing to spend the £100~ for looks then go for it

Thats not a downgrade, its an aesthetics purchase. I would make sure that you update the BIOS on your Z87-A so that when you sell it, it is compatible with Haswell and DC.
