Silent PC

Hi,

My pc has this annoying sound. Thought i could fix it by pulling the optical drive out, adding two AF120's in the front and removing the stock antec fans when i installed the scythe mugen 4.

Don't think the 2 front fans even helped with the cooling since the drive bays are blocking the fans alot.

Also , this case is realy ugly. Bought it when i was building my first pc because it was cheap.

I want to make my PC silent. Without compromising on temperatures.

What case / fans / cooling should i purchase?

Realy love the Enthoo Primo, but i realy don't need it. Although, if i got it i would probably get a watercooling kit.

Are watercooling kits from Alphacool any good?

Define "silent".

And what is the acceptable temperature range you are looking for?

Define silent, that is a good question. When my pc is silent (at idle, when fans are running at minimal speed). When temps go up, (at load) when gaming, rendering, etc.

When my pc is at load, it is basically a turbine that is accelerating.

My temperature range for the CPU is below 65 degrees. For the GPU below 70's.

My GPU and CPU are both thermal throttling when i force the fan speed to minimal while the PC is at load.

I just want a good performing pc, while keeping silent.

A case that I would recommend would have to be the bitfenix pandora but if you want space then definitely go for a nzxt h440 for its amount of fans but if you dont care about looks replace them with so noctua fans for almost silence. Check header on your board works with the case.

Why did you put AF fans instead of SP ?

Because at first i thought airflow would've made more sense, but when i started to mount them.... Yeah , SP's wouldve been better i gues.

AF's are good if you already have any airflow, to make it you need SP's. :)

Put same fans on every fan place in your case and control them with fan controller. The more fans you have the lower RPM you can spin them. BTW watercooling is not silent as the pump makes noise all the time..

Yeah, all the spots in my case for fans are being used. That is one reason why i want a new case.

Second reason being, my current case is ugly.
