Storage drive letter availability

PJemus

So i just built my new PC today, and I am trying to format my storage drives. i have a 240gb SSD, a 1tb HDD, and another 150gb HDD. the HDD is an old work one, and so it is partitionsed. i removed the partition and renamed it 'E' drive. my SSD is my boot drive, so it is 'C' drive. i want to now make my 1tb HDD 'D' drive, although the options B (what the 150gb drive was initially), C, D, and E, are not on the list. How can i make 'D' drive appear on the list?

tl;dr: i want the (D:).

Right click 'Computer' then click on manage.

The option to change drive letters is under the Disk Management category...

You can make that appear by right-clicking the drive whose letter you want to change...

iirc B: is reserved for a second floppy...

D: is automatically assigned to an optical drive if you have one...

You can try unplugging all of them, and replugging and reassigning each one... You'd need to reboot each time you assign a drive letter though...
