I live in Australia, and for my first build obviously need a power supply... I was wondering, since I'm Australian and we have different power sockets, if I buy my PSU from America, will I need to get an adapter? Or if I buy it in Australia, for example from PC Case Gear, will it already be compatible with the Australian socket or will I need an adapter anyway? I just wanted to buy it from America because it's cheaper.

Is that the same with CPL Online? And if I do go with a PSU from America, and have to use an adapter, will that limit the efficiency/power draw/whatever of the PSU?

From america I don't know about the adapter however buying components from Australia means no adapter needed

Most power supplies (If not all) will work between a certain voltage i.e 100v - 240v and 50Hz-60Hz.

You would just need to buy an Australian kettle lead if you bought a psu from USA.

EDIT: You will need something like this cable if you buy the psu from USA - http://www.cplonline.com.au/pc-power-cable-1-8m.html
