ASRock extreme 6 happens to be my favorite Z97 motherboard. Tons of features, more than anybody else for that price range. Even has dual M.2 slots for future proofing. ASRock makes very good things these days. They started out as ASUS' budget subsidiary but they broke away and now make great stuff. They always find a way to add value for money with all their products, without using garbage components.

I have an ASRock mobo myself, and it gets the job done. UEFI is easy to navigate and get the hang of, and has some cool features; A-Tuning allows changing CPU clock settings in Windows, which speeds up the process of finding a stable OC.

I only had one ASRock board, but it was a real pain to get working. After a while the board stopped working and I tried to RMA it, but customer service was terrible, they wouldn't respond to my emails via proper channels and otherwise. After a while I just gave up and bought a different board.

Given how much positive feedback they normally get I'd assume my experience was an outlier, but definitely turned me off of their products.

I prefer something like a Gigabyte board as they have much better support/warranty claim service here in the UK. the boards themselves do seem good though, but not so sure about the support over here
