EVGA 780 Reference Cards

Hi, I was wondering if I should get the normal edition or the "superclocked" and will I be able to overclock it myself. Additionally do you think it's work the additional price.

 

Normal: 863Mhz £550

Superclocked: 941Mhz £570

Get the normal one and overclock it yourself. Voila! --same card.

I was under the impression the SC was the same or next to same price as the base model?

Personally if i were forking out cash for a 780 i wouldn't be buying reference unless i was putting it under water.

 

MSI Lightning 780 - Grab it once it hits.

Just get the reference EVGA card, and overclock it yourself using EVGA Precision X or something similar. They are the same cards, other than a factory over clock, which you can easily do yourself.

IIRC they use binning to determine which ones they sell as SC or OC versions, in an attempt to reduce the effect of the silicon lottery.

Superclocked/OC edition GPUs tend to overclock better as they are selected by the manufacture and tested for stability.
