So... Blue or Brown?

Go to solution Solved by brokencross,

Unfortunately I have not been able to try blue or brown switches and probably won't be able to any time soon. I'm in the market for a mechanical keyboard and I want to know, sound COMPLETELY aside, how do the browns feel vs. the blues? Is it the same or can you feel a difference? I also tried reds and am not a fan.

If you're a moderate to heavy typer I'd say go with the blues. If you type a lot and game, go with the blues.

If you don't type a lot and just game, go with the blues.

That whole double tapping nonsense is just that: nonsense. You can double tap perfectly fine on any switch whatsoever. You just have to learn what's the actuation/release point of it.

Browns are really mushy, but hey, that's my two cents on it. They feel like reds, but with a really subtle bump.

But hey, there's a lot of people who love browns, I just happen to prefer blues.

Order a switch sampler kit and try them out. Although it would be better if you could try them out on boards, since it can vary a lot depending on the board... And it's quite a bit different trying a switch alone and typing on a full kb.

Blues you  press down they get harder to press to a point then you get the click and they become easy to bottom out. browns are the same but take press pressure to get to the click point.

Just order this and find out for youself.

Browns don't click.

By click I mean the bump point.

Screw it I'm going with blues you've convinced me. And I know that 2 of my friends got browns and want blues. And you said browns are mushy and I don't want that. So I'll just go with blues and if I hate it I can always return it :D thanks!

Yeah, blues are probably the most enjoyable type of switch. That clickiness is like a drug.

And they really provide good feedback to your fingertips.

Im using reds and oddly enough, I wasn't prepared for how much I like the lack of an actuation point. It's a k70, I'm writing a review that will be up soon.

Guess I'm odd like that. I still will eventually get a blue keyboard again, as I do like them for typing, and I will at some point need a workstation keyboard.
