Would it help for PhysX ?

Go to solution Solved by SeanBond,

Hello everybody !!  ;)

I was wondering if an old 8400GS with 512 MB of cutting edge DDR2 I have laying around would help my  270x as a dedicated PhysX card.

Thank you for your help :D

No because the latest drivers stop physx from working if it detects an amd card being used at the same time :( A real dick move on nvida's part.

No, that would probably detrimentally affect your PHYSX performance, as it is quite an old gpu. I would reccomend nothing less than a gt 460 for a physx card, although that's just my opinion. What cpu are you running? Anything i5 or fx 6300 and above would be able to handle physx quite well.

No, it's WAY to slow also Nvidia stopped allowing dedicated PhysX cards to be run along side AMD cards.

That's a really bad move from Nvidia,it's almost childish :(

also the 8400gs isnt supporte by the latest drivers.

not really a dick move on Nvidia's part thou, they worked hard to develop the tech so they should profit from it.

That's just in theory. In reality most physx games hinder cpu performance on purpose to force you to get an nvidia gpu if you want the x physics.

How is buying one of their gpu's and using it for a dedicated physx card not profiting nvidia? If anything it will hurt there sale by a minuscule amount. Im sure there are die hard amd fans out there that liked physx so they went out and bought a physx card just for that. Now they will never do that again.

Oh you want to use AMD as main card an Nvidia as PhysX?

that would mean you'd have to use 2 gpu drivers simultaneously, since PhysX drivers are not built into Catalyst and not available separately.
