open vpn & rt-a66r

how do you set up open vpn on the rt-a66r to work with windows 8.1

 

tap mod gives me a client key but tun mod goes days with out generating a key

 

i want to set up my own personal vpn for when im on wifi hotspots as well as acces my hdhomerunprime/ media server

 

 i dont wanna make a vpn server even though i have an old ibm p4 but no os for it as xp is dead.

 

id perfer to stick with the router method to save on elecrical costs since i wouldnt be using it on a daily basis and i almost had it working already.

 

just cant get it to tunnel any of the data through the vpn after it took an hour to realize i was using the vpn key wrong.
