Last night I went to sleep listining to a oldtime radio shows stream like I do everynight. And I woke up at about 3am with a wierd unfamiliar light, It was the blue neon from the PC mixed with smoke and a burnt plastic smell mixed with burnt capacitor! It freaked me out at first until I woke up more and realized what happened. I unplugged the monitor and went back to sleep. Anyway the only monitor I have is a old 17inch HP vx74 CRT monitor. or (FS7600) And usually 17inch CRT 's have a native resolution of at'least 1280x1024, But not this one! LOL, It will go to 1280x1024 but at only 60hz and it looks like crap. It's native is 1024x768 @85hz (sigh!) So I have to use 1024x768 because 1280x1024 is horrible. This was some old crap monitor used by both HP and Compaq. Now I have to spend for a new monitor, And the prices today are insane! But my GPU is getting around 90-100fps LOL.

Wait? You've used a CRT for this long? Also I'd like to know resolution (1920x1080?), budget, and how big do you want the monitor to be?

A 75hz monitor is fine with me. As long as it does not stutter or act wierd and it looks pretty it is ook with me.

Asus' line of monitors are pretty good. What was your previous brand? Samsung? LG? Off brand? I would recommend a IPS LED backlit display in a size that will fit your budget. 23" is pretty good like the PB238Q.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

I really do not want to spend more than $70, But I know that more than likely will not happen. But it has to be at'least a 1600x900, I would rather have a 1920x1080p monitor, But I do not mind 1600x900, It looks almost as good and it does help with games that need more V-Ram. But I did find a HP for $89 on Newegg but they raised the price to $109! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176254&cm_re=1600x900-_-24-176-254-_-Product

Newegg is starting to get on my last nerve doing that! For the same price of $109 I can get this elcheapo 1920x1080p AOC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160155&cm_re=lcd-_-24-160-155-_-Product

And the AOC was just $99 two weeks ago! LOL. But at'least they only raised this one by $10 To be honest I think monitors should be cheaper than that. A basic 1600x900 should cost no more than $65 and a 1080p should be no more than $80. Sorry for the rant! But $70 to $110 would be my budget.

I found a ACER 19.5 1600x900 used at a local computer store for $50. Is Acer still good? I remember the old CRT's being decent. But I need a monitor back I am jonesing! Only thing is I have to pick it up at there other store about 10 miles away.

OK I got a 20inch 1600x900 HP for my old GTX 650 Ti in trade. The old GPU was not helping me any sitting around anyway. And I only paid about $119 for it new. Maybe I made a mistake trading, But I got what I wanted. This monitor has a much prettier display than my old one.
