Hi guys , I hope you will help me to choose the best solution of building a new pc. Last 6 years i was living in laptops "world" and now I am migrating to dekstop pc domain, so I am newbie here.

My expectations and primary tasks of my future computer:

- I am an IT specialist for networking , IT security and etc, so it will be used for network simulations , OS virtualization and lot of many other tasks and intensive calculations and visualizations (at the same time/moment) - multitasking.

- Video editing, recording (not for gaming, but mostly for live lectures and etc.)

- Gaming : I am not a really big gamer .. but ... I love World of Warcraft , so it would be really nice to play it with no problems on Ultra settings with my 24 inch Full HD monitor (@60Hz) . New expansion is almost here, so I want to be ready for it with smile on my face :))) (other games I play ... they work fine with "stone age" computers).

Basically that's all. I don't want to exceed my 500-700 British pounds budget, so price/performance ratio is very high priority for me.
There is a link with most of hardware prices here in UK https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/ (I think most of you know this page).

Basically I think that the AMD FX - 8350 would fit for this really good, but everything else?
Thanks for you in advance.

Mindaugas
(p.s sorry for my "broken English")

Thank you for your quick answer ,but talking about processor , is this Intel Xeon the best choise ? Because as i know , Xenon series is more for servers than home users .
Just it would be nice to know advantages and disadvantages  between Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 and AMD FX 8350.
Best  regards

Hi Demons , it look very atractive for me , just the question about GPU: do I really need this so powerfull graphic card just to play WoW ? ( Or maybe just my mindset about these things is wrong, count this too :) )

No you don't need such a powerful GPU for WoW, but I was thinking what if you wanted to play something else? You aren't going to be playing WoW forever, and when you want to play something else, maybe you'd like a nice beefy GPU to play it on. The 750ti is really the lowest end GPU I would consider for gaming, but if it was my budget I'd want something that could handle anything at 1080 for the foreseeable future.

kinda similar to what the xeon build above has but I put the parts where I have personal first hand experience in.

xeons are very good for the stuff you put there and so is the 8320. but if just playing wow then the 750 ti should be plenty and the xeon e3 would do wonders too.

you can buy a hard disk around 1tb western digital caviar red in the future. like the next payday.

I kinda put this build to prioritize your work related stuff.

edit: adding a hdd to the build I posted would opt for around 36 more.

If you are rushed and in need of storage space and can't salvage the one from your laptop then buying the hdd might be more reasonable just that it's easier to add a hdd while having a sdd as boot drive than adding a ssd and making it your boot drive. kinda less hassle.

Live your life like a dream.

Ok, thank you guys for the support! I do appreciate that!

Just few more questions if you can answer : again about FX class CPUs vs Xeon  - if they both are good for my tasks ,so why should I pay more 70-80 pounds for Xeon instead to buy FX - 8320 or 8350 ?
And most important thing I always wanted to figure out is about motherboards : there are lot of them with similar properties , but the prices range are enormous , because (I think ) i see some Mob for 30-40 pounds what would fit for these builds you showed me :) (is this all about socket type /sli/crossfire support? )

thanks!
