Posted October 24, 2014 Hello good folk of the LTT community! So when skylake released I'm planning on getting a Z170 (Z97 equivalent of skylake) motherboard, an broadwell I7 and the Noctua NH-D15 (Guessing the NH-D15 will also be compatible for LGA 1151). Now my question is this: The NH-D15 comes with 2 NF-A15 fans but what would yield better results? NF-F12's of the NF-A15's? Just wondering -Archangel RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Posted October 24, 2014 The A15's are quite better considering the size difference and that they were pretty much made for the NH-D15. Posted October 25, 2014 The NH-D15 comes with 2 NF-A15 fans but what would yield better results? NF-F12's of the NF-A15's? The NF-A15's that come with the cooler are excellent fans. The difference in temps between the two types of fans would be negligible considering the additional cost of buying NF-F12's. In my opinion you should just keep the NF-A15's that come with it. yesterday's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/238451-nh-d15-fans/#findComment-3271739 Share on other sites
 Posted October 25, 2014 nf-f15 through and through... the cpu heatsink fins is more spread apart from each other than your typical watercooled radiator, where nf-f12 finds its place. I doubt there would be a huge difference if nf-f12 was the same size as nf-a15. I would still think nf-a15 would win. So due to the larger size and all that, nf-a15 would be much better.
