Hi All,

Long time watcher, haven't posted much. I'm the proud new owner of two GTX 980's (The ASUS reference design ones) and bought two EK water blocks to go along with them.

I also bought the ROG Swift Monitor by ASUS with G-Sync which outputs at 1440p so i'm told.

Couple of questions, will this setup be enough to maintain 120 FPS or thereabouts in games like BF4 at max settings at 1440 p ?

My computer is a Maximus V Extreme with a 3770k overlocked to 4.2Ghz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, Corsair AX860, Asus ROG Phoebus with a custom water cool loop. Storage is handled by 3 Samsung 840 Pro 512GB's for games and one 840 Pro 256 GB for Windows 8.1 (64 Bit).

Any tips/advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

More than enough.  Also, you wouldn't need to care if it can maintain 120fps.  That's the whole point of G-Sync.  Play at lower framerates but achieve the same smoothness as higher framerates.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

Theres no reason to need 120 FPS anything past 60-70 is pretty much irrelevant. That being said max settings on any 1440p monitor is extremely gpu intsensive and even with SLI 980s dont expect to see triple digit FPS. Congratz on managing to actually get a hold of some though as everywhere is non-stop sold out. Edit, i thought it was 4k monitor you were talking about, my bad im a little tired xD. But yeah, it will be a more than fine set up, just not really needed to worry about getting 120fps

Awesome thank you. I understand that G-Sync makes it appear smoother, but i assume that the difference between 40 FPS even with G-Sync and 120 FPS is still quite substantial?

Awesome, thanks for the reassurance. I assume 860 W will be enough to power the two of them as well ? Its quite easy to get hold of 980's over here in Australia - quite a few stockists and plenty of options....

Why in the world would you buy 3 x 500GB SSD's are you mad? :P

A number of reasons, their MTBF is higher than that of HDD, i prefer the faster access times for games like Battlefield 4 etc and the general system responsiveness. As a side issue from MTBF - data costs are higher in Australia, its cheaper to invest in better storage so that data isn't (or hopefully isn't) lost than paying more for internet...
