Hi!

So, I will buy a new pc. It has an AMD FX- 6300 CPU and and Radeon R9 270x GPU. I will also get a new monitor, 1080p. But since I also have an older 720p monitor, I'm wondering how big would the performace hit be, if I would use both in for example BF3?

Thank you.

i don't think you can use both at the same time

both would have to be in 720p

just use your one 1080p monitor

also dual monitor isn't great for gaming since the bezels are where your crosshair would be

Dual monitor gaming is horrible. The middle of the screen is divided wit ha bezel. Just use the 1080p monitor for gaming and have a stream etc. on the 720p monitor.

AMD can do mixed resolution Eyefinity.

Having both enabled will not make any single screen perform worse.

Gaming across two is silly, and if you try it, you'll see why.

Gaming in a 'fullscreen' borderless window and having other programs on the secondary screen, is nice.

Most would still force the real fullscreen and have the second screen do nothing... (Or show the battlelog Map overlay on 2nd screen)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

But can I use both at their native resolution for just general web browsing etc?

Yes, that is how people normally use dual monitors. You can for example game on one and look at a video with the another.

And would this affect the fps on the one that the game is running on?

not if you arent' doing anything intensive - you should be fine.

The 1080p screen has about twice the number of pixels as a 720p screen, so it's twice as hard to drive (I think, don't quote me on this)

It does not if you are not doing anything intensive like gaming on both screens.
