New PC Build

I am planning building a new computer this comming Black Friday for the best deals possible. I don't use my computer for too many intensive applications nor do I play demanding games. I would however, like to look into GPGPU programming and would like a nice video card. Either build, I will probably not use my computer to the max anytime soon.

 

1) Build a computer around $1000, and have phasing out technology. So when I want to upgrade my CPU 2-3 years from now I am likely to change out the MOBO.

 

2) Build a computer around $1800, and have most fo the new technology: DDR4, Intel 5820K, GTX 970. Then if I want to upgrade CPU or memory, I would not have change out the MOBO.

The first build makes no sense. Why have one good computer and one crappy one?

Option 1 is not all that bad: Intel i5 Haswell, with GTX 970, and DDR 3. So if I want to upgrade a few years from now I would probably have to replace memory, CPU and motherboard. So I assume you whould go with option 2 and spend the extra money?

If I were you I would build a 1000 dollar computer for now and then upgrade it in the future. For 1000 dollars you can get a kickass computer.

Yes, why 6 months? Is that when you expect prices to drop some or is there more new stuff rolling out?
