How easy would you say it is to fix bent/broken pins on a motherboard's CPU socket?

I imagine it's not hard to fix just a few bent pins, but what about if a pin is entirely missing or something?

Edit: It's intel

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

If Intel, not the easiest thing, considering the entire point of contact is gone. For them, you would be better off getting a new motherboard or RMAing.

If AMD, just get a small long piece of metal, of which would be the same length and thickness as a pin. Then, stick it into the proper hole and make sure it makes contact with the CPU.

If you still have something like the pin to conduct electricity in the same place, it could work even if it's broken off.

Jesus christ linus has been around for so long he's done a video on everything

Edit: I assume the same principle applies the other way around...

As long as it conducts the electricity.
