Have you gone into the default playback for sound in your computer settings?

In other words if you are on windows 7, you can search sound and click or just go to hardware and sound in the control panel.

switch your tv input to hdmi, then switch your computers audio output to "hdmi audio output" that shows it's plugged in and it spits out the sound.

I don't think you can use HDMI as an audio source only and display video from another input on a TV.

You can use it for display only with an adapter, why not audio only? It's just a plug that combines multiple digital cables into one cable.

EDIT: oh right he probably can't watch the video/tv on the other input at the same time unless he uses Picture in Picture or something. Wait, why would he?

"Pardon my French but this is just about the most ignorant blanket statement I've ever read. And though this is the internet, I'm not even exaggerating."
