Kraken x41

So I just got a Kraken x41 and turned it on for the first time and I hear the pump turn on and it was EXTREAMLY loud at first, then within 10 seconds quieted down to something normal.  But I can hear the liquid running around in it, even with the case closed.  (This is the first boot about 10 minutes after install)  Is this considered normal?

I have done a custom loop before and it kinda sounds like when your pouring coolant in it for the first time and trying to get your lines filled up and stuff.  But its gone on for, like previously stated, about 10 minutes much longer than I expected.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Yes first boots can be pretty abnormal but don't worry about it unless it's still a recurring problem after a few days.

If it's new from the factory would it need to time to wear in?

When i installed my Kraken X41 it did the same thing for about 10-15 minutes at which point I had stopped paying attention as I was busy over clocking, the next time I checked again it had stopped.

Your best bet is just to wait it out and see if the sound goes away as the air inside the system settles.

  • 2 weeks later...

So after several weeks of troubleshooting, the kraken x41 and x61 CAN NOT go under 35% fan speed or the pump will go too slow and grind itself.  The default fan profile was set at 30% until something like 55c and then jumped up to 60%.

Basically the end result:  I turned off ASUS AI Suites fan management software, and just used NZXTs CAM software to do it.  Haven't heard a noise since.
