So yesterday I installed Windows 8.1, it worked great all day long, I turned my computer off before bed, woke up and it showed the Windows 8 startup logo, then it said, "Restoring computer to previous version of Windows" it booted to my old Windows 7 installation as if I never left it, (I'm missing all my Steam games, though.) then it said, "Windows 8.1 couldn't be installed." what? It was installed and working all day yesterday, what the hell happened? The space Windows 8 took on my hard drive is back, I can't figure out what happened. Anyone have any idea what happened? Should I try reinstalling Windows 8.1?

Did you install windows 8.1 as an update or as a fresh install? If you did it as an update I would try the other option now. I honestly never heard of a problem like this and I have no idea what could have caused it... :/

It would appear the superior OS has regained control of its natural habitat. I suggest we study your Windows 7 installation further and use it to breed stronger, more stable operating systems. I for one, welcome our Windows 7 overlords.

I did it as an update, also the last time I turned off my PC before this happened my monitor went black 5-10 seconds before my computer's fans and such turned off. I'm thinking of buying a 1TB hard drive in the next week or so and installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit to it. Need to upgrade to 64-bit anywho, might as well do it sooner rather than later.

This gave me a good laugh, I do love Windows 7 more than 8.
