<$1000 ( might stretch to $1250 ) not for gaming

 

Decent cpu i5/i7 haswell ( for better efficiency )

Gpu optional , if it has one let it be something 800 series nvidia

Battery , the best you know in that price range

around 8GB ram 

SSD optional , but if it has one the better , no need for high capacity 

1080p screen
